About DonGlen
Little did I know growing up with my mom and dad, traveling weekends to dog shows ... that now, many years later .... I am carrying on their kennel name. DonGlen was the kennel name of Bruce & Rachel Chappell. The name DonGlen came from Donna (me) and Glenn (my brother). Back in "those days" DonGlen was home to a special German Shepherd named Duke. DonGlen was primarily focused on raising quality German Shepherds and Pembroke Welsh Corgis.
My father became an AKC judge, licensed to judge obedience, junior showmanship, German Shepherds and Corgis. It is great to now still run into people who knew my parents, especially those who remember showing under Dad.
That was then ...
This is now....
DonGlen -- My desire to honor my father's memory/legacy started when I wanted to purchase a golden retriever to show in obedience. Southpaw A Song For U Far Away "Bailey" was purchased from Bill and Diane Lyman of Southpaw Goldens. Bailey came to live with us on December 26, 2005. Thanks to my husband for the best Christmas present ever!
Bailey, my heart dog, will be the foundation for great things to come. She quickly earned her championship and now is adding obedience, rally and soon agility titles. Bailey was bred and produced an amazing litter of goldens bred not only for conformation and performance, but temperament, soundness, and health. A golden who is capable of excelling in many venues, while being the best "man's best friend" they can be.
Electra, my Rhodesian Ridgeback, who came home with me for socialization while her owner was on vacation ... Well, I just couldn't give her up. Wall St. Electraglide of FM resides happily at DonGlen as well. Queen of DonGlen is Gretchen, a shepherd/golden mix adopted from Rescue.
Our dogs are all a part of our family and live in the house. I am a proud member of the Durham Kennel Club and the Golden Retriever Club of America. We abide by the Code of Ethics for the GRCA.
